Oscar nominees release unexpectedly widely: psychological thriller with Natali Portman Black Swan (330 screens) and western from the Coen Brothers True Grit (400 screens). Preview screenings of Darren Aronofsky's movie go week already and we can take Dorian Gray with Ben Barnes ($0.9 million, 246 screens) like analogue. If per-theater average will be similar, then $1,3M for week-end is quite probable.
In USA True Grit has returned a genre of western to life, having earned more than $150 million already, but in Russia the older generation is a very rare visitor in the theaters, so we expect about $1M.
English criminal drama London Boulevard with Colin Farrell starts on 220 screens. On the Eve of the Valentine's day the romantic line between characters of Colin Farrell and Keira Knightley looks very attractively, but in UK the movie didn't have a success last year ($0,9M on starting week-end (345 screens)). So we wait about $0,6M.
How Do You Know? comes after the infamous performance in United States. Despite the recognizable cast (Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson, Paul Rudd) distributor doesn't release the movie widely (only 292 screens). But this pre-holiday weekend should give $1M.
"Mantikora 3D" (Russian thriller about demon on the Moscow roads http://nostromo.lgg.ru/news/trailer/id/778) starts on impressive 445 digital screens, but on average 2-3 shows daily only. The film was in production about 6 years (budget about $6M), but the creators couldn't reach a good quality. We wait $0,41M.
