Admission Ranking above for span between 04/16/2011 and 04/17/2011

The 15th film in the Detective Conan film franchise, Quarter of Silence, opens to a mighty 453,618 admissions; 550,100,000 yen ($6.7 million) over the 2-day Weekend on 332 screens.

The opening is the third biggest in admissions this year (narrowly missing second by 1,000 admissions), as well as the third biggest in gross.  The franchise is as strong as ever, and should have no problem reaching the 3 billion yen ($37 million) milestone.

Opening with Detective Conan has become an annual event for the Crayon Shin-chan franchise, and depite being from the same dstributor, thrives best with this release.

The 19th film in the franchise, The Golden Spy Mission, opened with 168,961 admissions; 193,964,400 yen ($2.4 million) on 325 sceeens.    Its down a hefty 25% compared to last year's film, but will eventually achieve 1 billion yen ($12 million) again this year, too.

Gulliver's Travels has previously seen much success in various countries worldwide, and Japan is going to be no different.

Gulliver attracted 160,183 admissions to rank third this weekend, but with the advantage of 3D ticket prices, ranks second in gross with 236,882,760 yen ($2.9 million) over the 2-Day.

That's good enough for it to make 1 billion yen ($12 million), though with Golden Week coming up soon, perhaps it can make a run at 1.5 billion yen ($18 million).

Still in the Top 5 after six weeks, SP: The Motion Picture - Revolution has grossed more than 2.5 billion yen ($31 million), and over 2 million admissions.

Doraemon always suffers the weekend Detective Conan/Crayon Shin-chan open, and this year is no different with Nobita and the Steel Troops - The New Age having almost fallen out of the Top 10 after seven weeks in release.  Nobita and company have brought in over 2 million admissions now, and looks good for about 2.5 million with assistance of Golden Week.

No news on the poor, expected, opening of Sucker Punch.

Next week sees the opening of Gantz Part 2: Perfect Answer, which should prove to be another big weekend.  The first film is currently the second biggest opener of 2011, and having grossed 3.4 billion yen ($41 million) after twelve weeks now.
