The cartoon Rio headed domestic chart for the last weekend with the result of $9.29M. Given the four-day previews this amount increases to $11.32M. The animation project from the director of the three parts of successful "Ice Age" can boast the best start this year. In revenue for the first weekend Rio was a little less Rapunzel ($8.86M, 800 screens). By the number of viewers (1.02 million) adventure of parrot was at the level of Megamind and How to Train Your Dragon.
Just Go with It showed a minimal decrease in the top ten, dropping just one line down. Total in Russia, the romantic comedy with Adam Sandler has impressive $11.5M
In addition to Rio five films debuted this weekend. All of they had no serious promotional support, no high expectations of the mass audience and, ultimately, compactly settled in the second half of the top ten.
The adventurous tape with Keanu Reeves Henry's Crime became the best of them - $0.80M on 270 screens. This is the first world premiere for the film.
The adaptation of "The Master and Margarita" showed one of the highest per-theater average for weekend. And this happened despite the complete lack of distributor's support for release and the fact that the Yuri Kara's film made seventeen years ago. Status of cult novel worked well.
Biographic drama "Piramida" (http://kino-n-sport.ru/repository/calendar/film/filmid/826), based on the largest financial scam in 1990-ies, debuted only in eighth place, earning $0.58M. Serious Russian cinema heavily achieves the audience's attention. The film's budget was $2.2M.
The German romantic thriller "Wir sind die Nacht" started with $0.49M on 295 screens. A similar result, the film made last fall in Germany. Knockin to fans of Twilight - a hard task.
The British comedy Chalet Girl locked the the top ten, coming on 170 screens. For such modest release $0.41M - completely decent result.
